Kevin Saunders
Wicca for the 21st Century

Kevin Saunders with Oaklan and BenKevin Saunders is a Wiccan High Priest living in the West of England. Wicca is an occult, initiatory path based on a modern form Witchcraft and Pagan spirituality introduced by Gerald Gardner in the 1950’s soon after the Witchcraft Act was repealed in 1951.

Kevin Saunders has spoken on the practise of modern Witchcraft, environmentalism and animal welfare on TV, Radio and on platforms both in England and abroad. He recently appeared on Living TV’s ‘Jane Goldman Investigates’ series teaching her about wand making. He is the author of two books on Wicca – ‘Wiccan Spirituality’ and ‘Advanced Wiccan Spirituality, Volume 1’ – both published and available from his publisher Green Magic, based near Glastonbury. He is currently working on his third and fourth books. Kevin also writes for Avalon and Pentacle magazines among others.

Kevin has also campaigned for community, environmental, human rights and animal rights issues for the past 25 years including serving as Chairman of the Saffron Walden Green Party in the early 1980s (where he stood in a number of regional elections), Regional Representative of the Hunt Saboteurs Association, Chairman of the Troon Action Committee, County Committee Officer of the Cornish RSPCA amongst others. He ran his own organic farm shop in Cornwall before standing for Parliament in 1992 for the Green Party. He was the Chief Press Officer for the Green Party (England & Wales) in 1999 and Senior Press Officer at Sustrans – the sustainable transport charity. He also taught Wicca at Glastonbury’s Isle of Avalon Foundation for 4 years.

In 1996 he won BBC Wildlife Magazine's 'Best Environmental Newspaper' award for his work as editor of Wildlife Guardian.

‘I think that any religion needs to be relevant to the challenges of the modern era and free from dogma’, says Kevin. ‘Whilst I respect anyone’s right to follow their own path, I see that Christianity and other religions fail to properly address individual, community and environmental needs in the way that modern Wicca can.’

Kevin currently suffers from M.E. / C.F.S. and is usually confined to a wheelchair or home.
